Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
Introduction
FilenameFixer is a free tool that fixes broken Unicode filenames. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data in our web app and Chrome extension.
Data Collection
We do NOT collect any personal data. FilenameFixer processes everything locally in your browser or on your device.
- Your files never leave your browser — all conversion happens client-side
- No file contents or filenames are sent to any server
- No personal information is collected, stored, or shared
Third-Party Services
Our web app uses the following third-party services for analytics and advertising:
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website. GA4 collects anonymized usage data such as page views and session duration. No personally identifiable information is collected. You can opt out using browser extensions or privacy settings.
Google AdSense
We display ads via Google AdSense to support the free service. AdSense may use cookies to serve relevant ads. You can manage ad preferences in your Google account settings.
Chrome Extension
The FilenameFixer Chrome extension processes filenames entirely within your browser. It does not collect, transmit, or store any user data. It reads the names of files you upload or attach on any website and fixes them before they are sent, and — with the downloads permission — reads the filename suggested for each download and renames it to NFC before the file is saved. File contents are never read, and nothing leaves your browser.
Cookies
The web app itself does not set any cookies. However, third-party services (Google Analytics and Google AdSense) may set cookies for analytics and advertising purposes. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
